 Common Admission Test (CAT) 2011 




The Indian Institutes of Management will conduct Common Admission Test 2011 (CAT 2011) during a 20 days testing window between October 22, 2011 and November 18, 2011. CAT 2011 will be conducted by IIMs as a Pre-requisite for admission to various management programs of IIMs.

Before a prospective candidate makes a decision to appear for CAT2011, he/ she must visit the websites and read program advertisements of the concerned IIMs and specific programs to ensure which programs they want to apply for.

Note: CAT 2011 scores are restricted only for admission to IIMs and non-IIM member institutions

CAT Eligibility

  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if he/she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2012 from the Principal/ Registrar of his/ her College/ Institute (issued on or before June 30, 2012) stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/ equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate.
Admission process:
Each IIM shortlists candidates for second stage of selection which may be independent of each other. The process may include

  • Written Ability Test (WAT),
  • Group Discussions (GD) and
  • Personal Interviews (PI)
Performance in CAT2011 examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may use previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. The processes, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs. For more information, you may refer the admissions policies of IIMs from their respective websites

CAT Result and Short-listing
CAT 2011 result will be announced on 11 January 2012 on the CAT website. List of shortlisted candidates for the next level of selection will be made available on the individual IIM websites. Each IIM will send interview letters to the candidates it has short-listed. The criteria for short-listing varies from IIM to IIM. Please visit the admission hotlinks of the respective websites of IIMs for further information.

JNTUH: Faculty Eligibility Test (FET – JNTUH) 


Applications are invited from the candidates who are interested to work as Faculty in various colleges affiliated to JNTUH for the examination “Faculty Eligibility Test” which is mandatory. The faculty already working as Assistant Professor and not ratified by the University shall also apply.

Who should take this Examination?
Candidates who wish to join any of the affiliated colleges of JNT University Hyderabad in 10 districts of Telangana region as Lecturer/assistant professor shall take this examination. The faculty members who are working as lecturers/Asst. professors but not ratified by the University at the present working institution shall also take this examination.

Advantage of taking this Examination
The Candidates who qualify in this examination will be eligible to appear for the interviews of faculty selections at all the affiliated colleges of JNT University Hyderabad and the candidates who qualify in this examination and selected at the college selection only are considered as University approved faculty. The appointment of the candidates selected without qualifying in FET-JNTUH is not approved by the University.

Exemptions:

  • who are already selected through University selection Board and presently working, or
  • who are presently working in the cadre of Associate professor or Professor.
  • who qualified through National level Test NET or iv) Obtained PhD are exempted from taking this examination.
    Examination Pattern:
    FET-JNTUH-2011 will be conducted in 18 subject disciplines. The question paper will have 120 objective type multiple-choice questions, which include Part –I (40 questions in general ability, aptitude and analytical skills) and Part –II (80 questions in subject specialization). Each correct answer carries one mark and a wrong answer carry negative 1/4 mark. The test will be for 2hrs duration. Qualifying marks for the Test is 40% and 30% for SC/ST candidates.

    CAT Eligibility

    • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
    • Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if he/she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2012 from the Principal/ Registrar of his/ her College/ Institute (issued on or before June 30, 2012) stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/ equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate.
    Admission process:
    Each IIM shortlists candidates for second stage of selection which may be independent of each other. The process may include

    • Written Ability Test (WAT),
    • Group Discussions (GD) and
    • Personal Interviews (PI)
    Performance in CAT2011 examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may use previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. The processes, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs. For more information, you may refer the admissions policies of IIMs from their respective websites

    CAT Result and Short-listing
    CAT 2011 result will be announced on 11 January 2012 on the CAT website. List of shortlisted candidates for the next level of selection will be made available on the individual IIM websites.     Applications are invited from the candidates who are interested to work as Faculty in various colleges affiliated to JNTUH for the examination “Faculty Eligibility Test” which is mandatory. The faculty already working as Assistant Professor and not ratified by the University shall also apply.

    Who should take this Examination?
    Candidates who wish to join any of the affiliated colleges of JNT University Hyderabad in 10 districts of Telangana region as Lecturer/assistant professor shall take this examination. The faculty members who are working as lecturers/Asst. professors but not ratified by the University at the present working institution shall also take this examination.

    Advantage of taking this Examination
    The Candidates who qualify in this examination will be eligible to appear for the interviews of faculty selections at all the affiliated colleges of JNT University Hyderabad and the candidates who qualify in this examination and selected at the college selection only are considered as University approved faculty. The appointment of the candidates selected without qualifying in FET-JNTUH is not approved by the University.

    Exemptions:

    • who are already selected through University selection Board and presently working, or
    • who are presently working in the cadre of Associate professor or Professor.
    • who qualified through National level Test NET or iv) Obtained PhD are exempted from taking this examination.
      Examination Pattern:
      FET-JNTUH-2011 will be conducted in 18 subject disciplines. The question paper will have 120 objective type multiple-choice questions, which include Part –I (40 questions in general ability, aptitude and analytical skills) and Part –II (80 questions in subject specialization). Each correct answer carries one mark and a wrong answer carry negative 1/4 mark. The test will be for 2hrs duration. Qualifying marks for the Test is 40% and 30% for SC/ST candidates.

      Note: The candidates who secured 45% (For OC) and 40% (SC/ST/BC) in Intermediate or its equivalent examination are only eligible for admission as prescribed by AICTE/Government.

      ALLOTMENT:

      • Allotments will be placed in Website http://apeamcet.nic.in on 14.08.2011 after 06.00 PM.
      • Enter the ICR Form Number (Registration Number), Hall Ticket number, Password and date of birth in Candidate Login.
      • Download the allotment order and read the instructions printed and also download challan form for payment of fee.
      • Pay the fees if any, in any Branch of Andhra Bank/Indian Bank.
      • Report to the allotted college on the date mentioned in the allotment order.
      • Failure to report in the allotted college by the date stipulated will automatically result in cancellation of seat and candidate has no claim on the seat allotted
